To achieve the objectives, techniques and instruments associated with qualitative and ethnographic methodology were used, to obtain primary sources, a bibliographic survey was carried out with the subsequent preparation of reading sheets and systematization of the information, as secondary sources were used. semi-structured interviews and participant and non-participant observation. In this context, Artificial Intelligence may play an important role in finding hidden patterns and relationships in data, which will allow us to recognize the true causes and make predictions that lead to more effective decisions. The general objective of this work is to generate models that allow us to discover those students who have a higher probability of dropping out of a university studies, allowing retention actions. Data mining and machine learning techniques were used, using data provided by the Academic Management System of the Catholic University of Santiago del Estero.
2024-12-27T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nuevas Propuestas Journal http://ediciones.ucse.edu.ar/ojsucse/index.php/nuevaspropuestas/article/view/795 Nutritional status and food security in children of San Salvador de Jujuy 2025-03-26T07:54:02+00:00 Anahi Agustina Rios anahiagustina.rios@alumnos.ucse.edu.ar Selene del Rosario Tolaba selenedelrosario.tolaba@alumnos.ucse.edu.ar Lautaro Daniel Andrade ldandrade@inbial.unju.edu.ar Noelia Guadalupe Vilca noeliagvilca@yahoo.com.ar Jorge Ivan Martinez jorjom@gmail.com
Despite the social policies implemented in Argentina, significant challenges persist in access to food, affecting children's nutrition and development. The objective of this study was to assess the nutritional status and food security perception of children attending community kitchens in the northern area of San Salvador de Jujuy during the years 2022 and 2023. A quantitative, observational, correlational, and cross-sectional study was conducted. The sample consisted of 81 children attending community kitchens. The variables analyzed included age, sex, and nutritional status (BMI-for-age, mid-upper arm circumference, waist circumference, body fat percentage) through anthropometric measurements. Food security level was measured using the Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Scale (ELCSA).

The study revealed the coexistence of undernutrition and overnutrition in the child population, with a trend toward overweight and obesity. This situation coexists with over 90% food insecurity, making it imperative to comprehensively address the nutritional status and food security of vulnerable populations through policies that tackle the complexity of this issue.
2024-12-27T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nuevas Propuestas Journal http://ediciones.ucse.edu.ar/ojsucse/index.php/nuevaspropuestas/article/view/809 Water management in the Demonstration Vegetable Garden at the Universidad Católica de Santiago del Estero 2025-05-31T17:15:53+00:00 Mario Néstor Clozza sindato2@sindato.com René Julio Teseyra sindato3@sindato.com Alberto Nicolás Suárez sindato3@sindato.com
Horticulture depends, among other requirements, on the availability of water at every stage of crops development. In order to adjust frequency and volume irrigated, an exploratory trial was carried out in the Demonstration Vegetable Garden at the Universidad Católica de Santiago del Estero. Water availability was registered by electronic sensors, installed at different depths (15, 30, 45 and 60cm). Measurements of water content were carried out in two irrigation situations, 24 hours after water saturation of the soil and after 3 days without water supply, in order to obtain information on its moisture retention capacity. Values registered by the sensors were contrasted with real data of moisture content measured in field and laboratory by extracting and drying soil samples. Results obtained indicated: i) an adjustment in the reading of the sensors is needed (a value 10 % higher than the real one was registered), and ii) loss of moisture due to percolation was 20 % in the first 30cm, reducing to 15 % and 10 % at 45 and 60cm, respectively.
2024-12-27T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nuevas Propuestas Journal
